Our History
Seldom Seen Farm is a full service training and lesson facility located in Ruff Creek, Pennsylvania. We specialize in the training of the American Saddlebred horse.
Seldom Seen Farm was established in 2009 by Lloyd & Kimberly Blaker. After purchasing the 32-acre farm from Kimberly’s parents, the Blaker's decided to build a barn with an attached arena, so that their daughter, Amanda, could fulfill her dream of owning her very own training & lesson barn. Our facilities include a 20-stall barn with heated tack rooms, laundry room/bathroom, feed & hay storage area, a 60' x 150' indoor riding arena, and a 60' x 150' outdoor riding arena.
In December of 2009 Seldom Seen Farm began giving lessons and boarding client horses for training.
We pride ourselves on being a very family oriented business. Every client that walks through our door becomes a part of our Seldom Seen family . Our mission has always been to share the joy of horses, teach people to ride and improve their skills, and most importantly, have fun and make lasting memories together.
Meet Amanda
"I started riding at the age of 5 and with the help of my mom, Kim Blaker, I competed with my little black pony, "Peggy Sue" in the walk/trot division. From there, my love of horses only grew stronger. With help from my parents, I was able to purchase my first American Saddlebred when I was 10 years old. I competed in the pleasure and equitation divisions until the age of 18. After I graduated high school, I began working at a local farm, aiding in the training of young horses, assisting with lessons, and grooming.
In 2009 my family was able to purchase the farm where my mom grew up and built our own American Saddlebred boarding and training facility, Seldom Seen Farm. At that time, the opportunity was right for me to step up as the head trainer and instructor.
We started with a 10 stall facility and gave approximately 10 lessons per week. Seldom Seen Farm has since grown into a 20 stall facility and averages 30 lessons per week.
I am blessed to have great family support and without the help of my parents, Lloyd and Kim Blaker, my loving husband, Jason Pierce, and my two beautiful baby girls, Layla and Avery, I would not be able to do what I love. I am living my dream every single day."
